Ladders are not just for experienced players. Ladders are not a tournament, champions are not declared and there are no prizes awarded. These are organized games that anyone can play. It’s a great way to make new friends, get some good exercise and improve your court strategy. Participants must provide their own feather shuttles which can be purchased at the pro shop.

Members and guests can register for a ladder by email, telephone or in person. Lineups are carried forward from week-to-week, so additions & deletions are required by 5.00pm on a Monday and Friday and by 5:00pm on a Wednesday. A list of registered players can be found on the schedule page of the redwllow.ca website. Please check the website. Participants who expect to arrive at the club later than 6:45 should phone 780-460-2441 to be sure they are included in the draw.

Ladder draws normally provide 3 best-of-three matches, but depending on the number of participants a draw may provide more or less than 3 matches. If there is a large entry, matches may be only a single game, or two games (no third game when there is a 1-1 tie). If you must leave early just let us know in advance so we can rearrange the draw.

Private Lessons

The Red Willow offers private lessons by appointment, and the fee is $45 per hour plus GST for members. For non-members the cost is $50 for juniors and $55 per hour plus GST for seniors. Students must provide shuttles.

Court reservations
Members and guests may reserve courts for two hours at times indicated in the play schedule. Reservations are on the even hour. Only one advance reservation is permitted, and regardless of whose name a reservation is made under, no player can be included in more than one booking. Reservations are confirmed on the website under schedule. Members and guests may phone the club (780-460-2441) to reserve a court, or they can do it by email badminton@redwillow.ca, or in person.

Adult Drop-in times
Reservation is not required on Tuesdays 7 to 10 pm or Fridays 10:00 am to 12 noon. You don’t need a partner for these drop-in sessions because there is always someone to play with. Regular guest fee is charged and we can provide new players with “loaner” rackets for $3 and court shoes for $3, or $5 for both rackets and shoes. If you want to acquire your own racket & court shoes our pro shop has an excellent selection at reasonable prices.

Private bookings
For birthday parties or other group events, the four Red Willow badminton courts can be reserved at times that do not conflict with regular club programs. Our function room is available by special arrangement.
